Camp Recovery was the first Civilian Conservation Corps camp in Prince William County, It's purpose was to put men to work preventing fires in the wooded area.

A story that can be told through this site would be the fact that the camp's purpose was to fight fire, so it seems appropriate that the space is now occupied by a volunteer fire station. It's significance would come from the fact that the government was attempting to give work to people in the area by setting up camps to help employ them. I used my phone to capture both the photo and video of the fire station. Today, modern phones can do what used to take multiple different types of equipment. By both being able to take still photos, videos, audio, and even be used as a map (which is how I got there) my experience documenting this piece of history was by far more convenient than it would have been in the 1930s. The only similarity I would find between now and then would be the fact that I used a photo as one way to document history, as it was common back then to document using a camera.
