Crime in the early 1930's crime was at an all time high. This was due to the Prohibition Act and The great Depression. America was in a "lawless" state, the police/FBI was loosing grips of the public. After 1933 the crime rates losing started to decrease, the Prohibtion was over, and J. Edgar Hoover had re-amped the FBI. Criminals started getting sweeped off the streets and put in jail. The Crimes started to decrease even more after The New Deal programs started, millions started to get jobs and get money again. By the end of 1939 crime rates had dropped by almmost 40%.
