Conclusion

In this exhibit, different digital tools were used to examine the many different depictions of African Americans in the Federal One Project. Each digital tool helped to shine a light on a different section of the project. Ultimately, depictions within the Federal One Project were subject to the inclusion of people of color in the production process. There is a clear difference in tone when white and non-white individuals depict Black Americans. Nowadays, we have similar concerns. Though there is no widescale federal art project, it's still important to consider the role of inclusion and representation within television, films, music, and news. Hopefully, the current generation of artists learn from the possible shortcomings of their predecessors.
