The American Guide Series introduced travelers to new smells, tastes an sights.
The American Guide Series incorporates almost all of the senses. It was a guide that was made in hopes to unite American and introduce people to other parts of the country. Within the guide were sections about a states agriculture, culture, towns, exciting stops and tour desitinations. This story map takes you through a guide from Kansas to Tulsa Oklahoma. Using an interactive map for this guide shows the excitment the American people felt when following these tours. Being in a different part of the country opened up Americans to new sights, tastes and smells! Along with the American Guide series was a series titled "America Eats". During the 1930's writers were sent to different parts of the region to explore new tastes across the country. Although different from the American Guide, it still is an example of how Americans were exploring the country and broadening their senses.
