The city folk of Chicago ventured southern down Route 66 to the midwestern states only to find agrcultural decay and more economic decline. As the northerners were flocking in, the people of Oklahoma, Kansas and other midwestern states also took Route 66 west due to the progessive rumors of California, specifically the city of San Francisco.The interstate was the best route to take due to the amount of rest stops, resturants and places to sleep along the way. Places that were more accepting of people regardless of race, religion or economic status; everyone was struggling financially.
